[ When the video feed clicks on, Namsoon looks rather ruffled up: his clothes are all askew, and there are signs of a bruise beginning to purple on his right cheek and a cut along one of his arms. There's a Mienfoo sitting on his lap, looking very excited!! to be out and about; it can barely seem to sit still. ]

I have a question. The Pokémon we’re partnered with... they aren’t supposed to attack you, right? [ there’s a pause, and then a sigh -- ] I don’t think she meant to, but she was very -- enthusiastic, when I let her out of the ball... They’re pretty strong, aren’t they? Even though they’re so small.

[ For a few moments, he seems to zone out, staring blankly and not saying anything. Rather abruptly, though, he snaps out of it after half a minute or so: ] I was wondering, though... do they really enjoy fighting? And do we have to battle them? It just seems kind of...

[ He trails off, changing subjects abruptly: ] I think I need a band-aid.

[ this guy over here has a bandage on his cheek if that answers anything. ] I haven't had any that attack me on purpose but accidents happen. I know there are some species that are more aggressive though.

So some probably like it more than others, then? Fighting, I mean. [ he gets the distinct feeling his is one of the kinds that enjoys it quite a bit. ]

Yeah, some of mine are more competetive while others are a bit more timid. [ his first two were basically opposites of each other in their battling attitude. ] But if he hasn't attacked you again it was probably an accident.

I understand not wanting to have them battle but when you're on the road it's probably impossible to avoid every wild pokemon that attacks. [ he pauses for a moment and scratches his cheek a bit. ]

They have band-aids in the Poke Center, I'm sure they'll be able to spare one for you.

[ the Mienfoo sitting on his lap makes an indignant noise at that -- gosh, of course it was an accident!! (Or maybe two or three accidents. But it can't help how excited!! it is.) ] Mm, that's what I thought too. After a while she seemed to calm down...

So, wild ones are aggressive. But tamed ones usually aren't. [ if it's self-defense, though, he supposes it'd be okay to fight... he sighs; this is all starting to get too complicated for his tastes. ]

A Poke Center... I'm not sure this town has one. There's only about three buildings around, as far as I can tell? [ and he just came out of one of them. ]

[ he smiles a bit at the Mienfoo, he didn't mean any harm in his comment! ] Yeah, I have on that likes to hug me without meaning to hurt me. I haven't had a lot of trouble with aggressive behavior with the ones that I travel with, if that makes you feel better.

There are exceptions but that seems to be the case generally. [ he doesn't go out of his way to catch pokemon so all of his are generally pretty relaxed. ]

Right, you're in New Bark Town. You could try asking...that auntie that thinks she's your mom maybe? [ he wonders how she's doing. unhinged as ever? ]

Did she say the same thing to you, too? She really seemed to think that she was my mom, somehow... even though we don't look anything alike. [ she kept calling him "sweetie," and it was incredibly jarring... ] I'll try, but...

[ look at that face. he is clearly looking forward to a repeat conversation with her. ]

I think she says that to everyone. [ he laughs a bit awkwardly at the memory. what can he do but laugh, really? ] Yeah, she must be like 30 years younger than my actual mom.

[ he doesn't blame him, it is kind of creepy. ] Did he break skin at all? [ he can't tell on the screen. ]

And I don't think she's Korean. Or even Asian, probably. [ which made the whole thing even more confusing, to be honest. ] ... I guess she must be here to welcome all of us, but it comes off kind of... uncomfortable.

[ to put it lightly! but at least she seems nice, or well-meaning at the very least. ]

I don't think so -- but I'm not sure I want to risk it, if we're going to have to travel a lot.

Ah, you're Korean too! [ why is he so shocked? he hasn't seen another Korean person in more than two months, even though he knows his 'world' is still out there somewhere...it's nice to see someone from the same place. it's barely any connection but it's comforting. ]

I'm sure if she can't help one of the other houses will have something. I can't imagine they all live without a basic first aid kit...

[ he nods once or twice in affirmation -- ] Yeah. I'm from Seoul -- where're you from?

We might be the only two here. I'm from Busan. [ he's trying not to look too excited about it. he manages, though this makes it clear to him just how homesick he actually is. ]

-- The only two? [ he seems rather taken aback -- he'd known there would be a lot of unfamiliarity here, but he hadn't really realized how much. ] ... How long have you been here?

[ the mutant mascot animals weren't more shocking? ]

About two and a half months now. I haven't exactly asked everyone but most of the people I speak to here don't even seem to know where Korea is.

[ that was the first hint. the idea that there's nobody around who can cook delicious street food, though? that is devastating :C ]

... What kind of places do they come from? That they haven't even heard of Korea.

Ninja villages? [ most of the people he hung out with for the first month were ninjas. ]

Just places with completely different countries. Or another planet.

[ there's this moment where he opens his mouth, then decides, nope. he... he really doesn't have anything to say in response to that. ]

You know... I was going to say something about how crazy that is. But then I realized, that's not even the weirdest thing I've heard today.

You get used to it. [ he's pretty sure he doesn't process 'weird' properly anymore. ]

Are you okay other than the bruises?

Yeah, I think so. [ and now that his Mienfoo has calmed down, he thinks they'll... probably be okay? ]

Ah -- I should introduce myself. My name's Namsoon.

That's good, it's about a three day walk from New Bark Town to Cherrygrove City so be prepared for that. [ he sure as hell wasn't when he got here, being from the city and all. ]

I'm Joonhee, nice to meet you.

[ he doesn't have any complaints about the actual hiking part, but camping out... he's a city kid, he's never pitched a tent in his life or even thought about it. he'll try to not make a face at that, but he might... not completely succeed... ]

It's nice to meet you, too. [ should he ask about agelines or something -- ? he supposes not everybody takes it as loosely as he does, but... ]

... How long have you been here?

[ it's not hard to guess what that face is for, he's pretty sure most teenagers from Seoul (or Busan) have had to camp before. ] It's not too bad! There should be a sleeping bag with your things and at least the ground is dry.

[ for better or worse he's gotten used to people paying no attention to agelines, he's still a bit hesitant when speaking to people who are older but most people here seem to be in their teens anyways. ]

I've been here about two and a half months now, I know some people have been here years though.

... We don't have to know how to build a campfire or anything like that, do we? Because I think... that might be a problem. [ he doesn't want to cause a forest fire ): ]

[ it takes him a few moments to process that -- ] For years... by then, people would have almost given up on finding a lost person, wouldn't they?

It's a bit cool in the evenings but you might be okay without it... [ if a bit uncomfortable. he's just been sleeping close to his arcanine when camping out lately. ]

I've heard a few people say that time doesn't pass where were from, so no one notices that we're gone. [ he doesn't really know how they know, or if it's true... it's a bit of a comforting thought though, sort of. ]

[ he opens his mouth because he feels like he has something to say about that, but... actually, he really doesn't have anything he thinks he can say about it. even but that's crazy seems like a moot point to make. ]

That's... convenient? I think... [ no, it's just weird. ] I'm not really good at thinking about these kinds of things anyway.

A lot of things don't really make sense here. [ he just kind of accepts it, there isn't a whole lot he can do about it after all. ]

I don't that think thinking about it really helps anyways. I feel a bit better thinking that my family isn't freaking out back home at least. [ when it's a household of nine women and they get hysterical...it's messy. ]
