Gukhwa means "chrysanthemum" in Korean. Namsoon usually calls him "Hwa-yah". Hwa-yah and Yeon have the sort of relationship where both of them seem to egg each other on -- especially because both of them really like battling! -- and come out of it closer. Hwa-yah tries his best to be responsible, but he has a tendency of rushing into things.

In his team, Hwa-yah is an analogue to Namsoon's best friend, Park Heungsoo.
