[ When the video feed clicks on, Namsoon looks rather ruffled up: his clothes are all askew, and there are signs of a bruise beginning to purple on his right cheek and a cut along one of his arms. There's a Mienfoo sitting on his lap, looking very excited!! to be out and about; it can barely seem to sit still. ]

I have a question. The Pokémon we’re partnered with... they aren’t supposed to attack you, right? [ there’s a pause, and then a sigh -- ] I don’t think she meant to, but she was very -- enthusiastic, when I let her out of the ball... They’re pretty strong, aren’t they? Even though they’re so small.

[ For a few moments, he seems to zone out, staring blankly and not saying anything. Rather abruptly, though, he snaps out of it after half a minute or so: ] I was wondering, though... do they really enjoy fighting? And do we have to battle them? It just seems kind of...

[ He trails off, changing subjects abruptly: ] I think I need a band-aid.

[ for a few moments, he just blinks -- Pokémon can do that? why are they not the ones in charge of this world... ]

I don't mind -- I mean, I don't think she did it on purpose. [ ... ] But I kind of want to know. If it's not inconvenient.

It's not. [He'll call out one of his Pokémon. A Reuniclus appears on the screen, smiling happily.] This is Aya. She's a Reuniclus.

[ Yeon the Mienfoo immediately perks up at the chance to talk to somebody who understands!! She might talkveryfast and a bit loudly and have a little trouble spitting out the pronunciation because she's going too quickly, though. ]

I don't understand!! What's the problem? Why's he being like this? I don't get it!

Calm down. I think there's a misunderstanding between the two of you. I'm here to help you fix that.

[She offers an understanding an reassuring smile.] You are just excited because he's your new trainer, yes?

I'm calm!! [ look at her fidgeting, though. she's so not calm... ] But I'm also excited!! Because now we get to go on an adventure together, right, right -- ?

It does. Your trainer is just confused at first. He's just arrived, so he needs some time to adjust.

[ for a few moments, she just tilts her head back and forth, before nodding. ] I see!! I understand!! I'll have to do my best, right - ?! I'll do my best, and then we'll get along really well!!

[ meanwhile Namsoon is just staring down at her like what are you even saying. ]

I'll tell about your feelings to my trainer, so he can tell them to yours. That way he'll know you're trying your best.

[Aya turns to Shiraishi and talks to him for a moment, before Shiraishi smiles again.]

She's excited to start an adventure with you and she'll do her best so that the two of you will get along.

[ he looks down at her and she looks back up, still fidgeting slightly. there's still definitely a part of her that's thinking "can we go now can we go can we?" but she's trying to restrain herself a little! ]

Ah... thank you. To both of you. [ he smiles. ]

[The Reuniclus smiles brightly as well.]

I'm Shiraishi by the way. Welcome to Johto... even though I'm in the other region right now.

It's nice to meet you, Shiraishi. My name's Namsoon. [ ... ] Ah... Kanto, right? The place across the sea.

[ or he thinks it's a sea, he wasn't really paying attention when he was being told about the ferry. ]

That's right. I took the ferry a few weeks ago so I could travel here... even if I've been here for months. I just needed to backtrack a little.

Backtrack...? [ there's a pause -- ] Do people normally start in Kanto, then?

Ah, no. I had just traveled a long way in Johto, so I needed to go back to the beginning and all.

... Is it different in Kanto than in Johto?

There are different Pokémon here and the atmosphere feels a bit different... otherwise both regions are pretty much the same.
