[ When the video feed clicks on, Namsoon looks rather ruffled up: his clothes are all askew, and there are signs of a bruise beginning to purple on his right cheek and a cut along one of his arms. There's a Mienfoo sitting on his lap, looking very excited!! to be out and about; it can barely seem to sit still. ]

I have a question. The Pokémon we’re partnered with... they aren’t supposed to attack you, right? [ there’s a pause, and then a sigh -- ] I don’t think she meant to, but she was very -- enthusiastic, when I let her out of the ball... They’re pretty strong, aren’t they? Even though they’re so small. 

[ For a few moments, he seems to zone out, staring blankly and not saying anything. Rather abruptly, though, he snaps out of it after half a minute or so: ] I was wondering, though... do they really enjoy fighting? And do we have to battle them? It just seems kind of...

[ He trails off, changing subjects abruptly: ] I think I need a band-aid.

[ this guy over here has a bandage on his cheek if that answers anything. ] I haven't had any that attack me on purpose but accidents happen. I know there are some species that are more aggressive though.

Some like to fight, some don't, depends on their personal likes or dislikes. My Hoppip hates fighting, but my Riolu loves it. I'm sure you can battle just for self defense, I see no reason you have to do it if you don't want'a.

I don't know about attacking people, maybe? But I'd take a swing at it being an accident.

Most of the Pokémon enjoy battling. I've only met a few Pokémon who don't want to do it so badly, but even they do if it's to protect their trainer.

[Though attacking their trainer... ouch.] I'm sure it was just an accident. Usually your starter is rather friendly with you.

Siri here has always been a little dynamo when I first met her, though we both picked up on each other's pace after the initial meetup. I'm sure you two will adapt to each other in a heartbeat!

Some of them do. In your case, I'd say your starter enjoys it too much.

Well, uh, sometimes my Woobat is aggressive towards me if I don't fulfill certain objectives. They're really strong and sometimes don't know their own strength so that could be it. What type of pokémon is it anyways?

[ She looks around, waiting for the feed to disconnect. However, with the question, she takes an equally long time to reply. ]

Some do, some don't. If they don't like fighting, they kinda make that known. I think a lot of them just view it as sport like mixed martial arts or kendo or something.

Mine didn't attack me, but he scared me pretty badly. [She pauses s if contemplating her next move, and turns her dex to show her sabeleye. He grins widely, all sharp teeth and jewels and waves all friendly-like.] It too ka bit to warm up to him though.

Not all pokemon enjoy fighting though. I have one or two who don't enjoy it much so I don't force them if they don't want to. It's simple enough, I guess.

Many of them seem to enjoy fighting, but I wouldn't say it's a universal trait! I have a few who prefer not to fight.
